Definitions

A list of definitions for words and phrases commonly used by maintenance, facilities, and reliability professionals follows:

  • Follow-Up Work Order: A follow-up work order is a corrective sub-work order generated when corrective:

    • Short-term containment for an urgent job is necessary.

    • Work has been identified during a PM or PdM inspection.

    The follow-up work order should reference the primary work order in which the corrective requirements were identified.

  • Short-Term Containment: A “temporary” repair, but not the proper fix, due to not having the right parts or the extended downtime needed to peform the correct repair.
